Golden Sunset Farm was born out of an extraordinary love for Golden Retrievers--especially those creamy white English Cream Goldens! I can’t recall a time when we didn’t have the loving companionship of at least one Golden, and more often, two. In the court of public opinion, one would be hard-pressed to find many who wouldn’t agree that Goldens are the sweetest-tempered, most endearing, eager-to-please family-friendly pet.
The most common, American Golden Retrievers, sport coats that range from a pale golden color to a deep russet. For the last 45 years we have had American Goldens—our most recent of which, Chloe, was our 12-year-old rescue. We lost her to cancer in March of 2023. Prior to that, we had precious family Goldens, "Molly", "Little Jack", and “Annie”, who produced some beautiful American Golden pups.
Then, how is the English Cream Golden different—other than having a stunning, thick creamy-white coat, and slightly different physical attributes? English Creams share the same family-friendly, lovable disposition, and all of the other traits that draw the world to love the Golden Retriever. Statistics have indicated though, that the English Creams actually enjoy a lower incidence of cancer than American Goldens. This may have to do with different European origins, or as-yet, not as prolific over-breeding. Another common thought is that English Creams are less prone to allergies than American Goldens. Whatever the reasons, these are a few of the key reasons why we chose to breed English Cream Goldens. We, however, recognize that with all living things, there are no guarantees of perfect health and long life.
We also recognize the incredible joy that comes with owning one of these stunning, loveable pets. There is rarely a time when one of our dogs isn’t right beside us—or in our laps! They give unconditional companionship 24/7. It’s just in their nature. And no matter what, they are ALWAYS glad to welcome you home!
Of course, with the adoption of any pet into your family, many things need to be carefully considered. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
